Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Four generations

Ali and I walked down to Craigleith this lunchtime and got caught in a horrible sleet/snow shower on the way back. A good test as to how water proof the pram is. It looked for a while as though the snow might lie but fortunately it was too wet and soon disappeared.
Katy, Jon and the girls appeared at around 4.30. They had been taking part in an advent trail arranged by their church around the centre of town so in spite of a couple of stops on the way round for hot chocolate they were very cold and wet by the time they arrived here. They were in good spirits though.
We had a lovely four generation gathering with Colin's mum at centre stage. She was there, for the first time since Josie was born, with her son, his (and my) two daughters and their three daughters.
Isobel was particularly delightful with Josie. She found a simple picture book and with less than a term of school under her belt decided she was going to read it to Josie. She sounded out every word with her mum without guessing(it was a simple baby book) and was so proud of herself and as a former infant teacher I was very impressed.
Ali wanted to cook for us tonight and produced a delicious roast chicken dinner. It's been lovely having her here for the last couple of nights and watching her with her daughter.
Keep safe folks, I'm hoping the roll out of all age boosters gets properly under way soon.
