As I said in yesterday's back blip today was DIY day. I had calculated that one large piece of MDF if cut the correct way would cover the triangular space under the side of the stairs in the living room of my mother in law. There would be very little widdle room, but with a skirting board applied we'd be okay.

Cut No 1 went well and the first piece fit perfectly. Good start - no accidents with the wood, tool or body parts.

Cut No 2 was a case of flipping the off cut from cut No 2 and then trimming the bottom off. We made that cut and it fit perfectly up to the first piece. Again no accidents.

Cuts No 3 and 4 for the final small triangle was more problematic. We had to redo the first cut, but we had enough MDF and we'd got better at handling the saw - which was now very large compared with the piece of MDF we were cutting, so all done. We put them all in place and though it was a nice neat finish, because furniture will mostly be in the way, all you can see is about 15% of the work....!

Tomorrow we'll paint them to seal them and I'll attach them to the framing battens I put in place a week ago, once they are ready.

Today's blip is a blue illuminated bauble that is too big for the tree, but is hanging on a pearl of lights near the tree. It's very blue and come out very abstract...
