College Hedgehog

Tonight I travelled an hour each way to join friends for dinner in old Istanbul. The place is famous for two dishes you have to order 24 hours in advance because they are slow cooked in a two-inch thick layer of salt that forms a personal baker for lamb or chicken. They have to use a chisel and mallet to break the casing open and get at the meat. It was a feast for the eyes, nose and tummy.
And yet, this picture taken after I got home won the day. I spotted the hedgehog while walking the dog, kept her distracted so she didn't notice as we went by, then crept back later to get my shot. Sorry to the creature and to you for the flash, but I didn't have a tripod for a long exposure.
