This morning's pink and purple sunrise seen through the almost bare branches of one of the oak trees on our rear boundary. For the last twenty-three years we have looked out onto a mixed woodland of oak, goat willow, hazel and birch. It took the developers less than a week to destroy the entire woodland so no more adders, slow worms, bats, badgers, foxes, deer, purple emperors or hairstreaks. This time next year we will be entirely surrounded by new houses.
