The Inverleith Heron

The local heron was today to be found in the Chinese Pond again staring at something or other.

If your interested in the beginnings of the Botanics (or indeed the Edinburgh of the 1820’s) I can recommend a new novel ‘The Fair Botanists’ by Sara Sheridan. Inverleith house (1st Extra) is the home of the Rocheid family as it was back then when the imagined Elizabeth comes to stay. The second extra is the view from the front door though you would need to remove the two big trees in the foreground for it to be a truer vision.
