Floating on Ice

Last week was hectic preparing for the first concrete pour on Monday. On excavating the base, I discovered a stonewalled sheep pen thing, which needed to be dug out. We now have plenty of large sandstone pieces, resulting in a big hole in the ground which required filling with 60T of backfill to form the base for the garage slab. Sunday night was sub zero temps, and it was touch znd go whether to proceed with the concrete pour. But the forecast was for 4C Monday so we went ahead with 4m3 of ready mix delivery. Only 2 short chutes on the wagon, so we had to rake the concrete across the 6m slab width. Sharon is seen finishing the concrete with a bullfloat, great job. Temps dropped again at night so we wrapped the slab in blankets and hoped for the best!
