Swan Lake

I made a quick trip to Rimac Nature Reserve managed by English Nature who have been busy managing the land. There are cattle munching the wild flower meadows and a lot of Sea Buckthorn has been removed to extend the salt marsh and also a big water drain The Great Eau has been breached so that at high tide a wetland will be created as water floods out onto the land. A lake has  been created and today this family of mute swans we’re enjoying the water. It will be interesting to see how it develops and to see what species of plants and birds make use of the newly flooded areas.
