Busselton

Big day yesterday.

We originally planned to leave Margaret River today. A small fire had been bubbling along in forest south of town. Access was difficult, so they had been water bombing it. It was hot and windy yesterday and the fire suddenly. became BIG.

We decided to get out and leave Uncle Rick to do what was necessary. Luckily he’s been re-landscaping with a bobcat. Much of the vegetation has been removed and the house now sits in the middle of a block of contoured sandy loam. Ideal bushfire preparation!

Yesterday evening the winds eased and things seem to have settled. With a couple of days of cool weather on the way, our fingers are crossed for everything being ok.

We’re in Busselton now, 100km away. On the way up the highway many emergency vehicles were going the other way. Lights and sirens were everywhere.

We walked on the beach last night.
THAT red glow is the sunset.
Nice!
