A Stollen

Stollen is a kind of German Christmas bread.

So why is it appearing on Blip ?
Well it was baked with enthusiasm and skill by Blipper Jane Petley-Jones
And it was bought today by me at the Arnside Village Market. It is delicious.

It is a fruit bread made with raisins, almonds and spices and often has a tube of Marzipan 
running through it. The whole loaf is sprinkled with icing sugar.

Stollens originated in Dresden in the 15th. Century and there is still a Stollen Festival at the 
Christmas Markets there.
