Mary

I wasn’t sure we’d keep naming chooks with having a larger number, but it’s unavoidable. This is Mary, and there’s a good reason…
She’s one of our rescue hens, and the scraggliest of the four. Without a tail off any sort (at the moment) she properly looks like a little dinosaur. Which brings us to Mary Anning.
She was born in 1799 and was an entirely self taught palaeontologist, but of course being a woman and of low social status, she didn’t get anywhere near the credit she should have for some amazing discoveries and contribution to our knowledge of the history of the earth.
