Reeds at Saul Junction

I stopped at the canal basin at Saul Junction and crossed the road to see where the old Stroudwater Canal joins the Sharpness to Gloucester Canal. It is still quite derelict, but the regeneration project is underway, and now in its second stage to re-open the canal all the way to Stroud, allowing the town to be joined to the national waterways network.

On the bank reeds have taken over. The wind was very brisk and dusk was approaching. I looked towards the setting sun and watched the layers of light and trees and windblown plants spreading into the distance.
