Angels in Kilts

Known locally as the 'Angels in kilts' stone, this superb example of a Ressurection scene dates from 1724 and is in Peathill Kirkyard.

The central figure is flanked by angels and represents the risen Christ, having overcome death he is standing on a skull and wears the crown of righteousness. The stylised palm fronds signify victory over death. The grave slab marks the burial Place of Anna Sim who died in 1724 and her husband William Rainey.
