Rosebay seed head

There is still more visual interest in seed heads, lichens and the dead remains of last years wildlife, as new spring flowers are difficult to find. This Rosebay Willowherb, Chamerion angustifolium, is easily walked past, but close up it is just an amazingly exciting structure. The tiny branches and seed pods become increasingly contorted as they dry out through the winter.
