Old Recipes

Inspired by Mrs MD's Blip of her book celebrating 100 years of the W I I dug out this recipe book which I have enjoyed browsing through over the years.
Published in 1967 it gives recipes from C18 and C19 cookery books devised for modern use.   Within its pages are such gems as:
  HAMPTON COURT PUPTON
“Blanch six pigeons in boiling water…..”
  BOILED COD’S HEAD AND SHOULDERS
“Once considered a great delicacy – served with Mussel or Cockle Sauce”.
  SALT MACKEREL
“A delicious breakfast dish if done nicely”
  BLACK TREACLE ROLY-POLY
  PIG’S TROTTERS
  COW HEEL (& BACON PIE).
The last two were liked by my Dad .....
