Crown roof (swimming pool)

Here is a not very exciting picture of the swimming pool on the top of our house. It seems to be traditional now to build a house with at least a bit of flat roof in a climate such as ours, where the water can pool and leak inside after the slightest rainstorm. In the 80 years since this place was built the house has sagged slightly and the drain hole is now on the highest point of the roof resulting in a pool of water collecting over much of the area.

Anyway, rather than a new roof my job here is to reaseal the edges of the swimming pool, bitumen mastic and reinforce the ashfelt ( where the s*****ng* birds have pecked it) and then I'm going to coat the whole lot in a hard fibreglass coat. Then we just have to put in a springboard and station a life guard and we can charge on the door!

Anyway, this shot is a 'before shot' - I have just had a go with the bitumen mastic and I'm trying not to get any on the camera.
