Modern Orthodontics and Julia Roberts

Alex has just had an expander put in his mouth which will, as one might guess, expand his upper jaw to accommodate teeth that haven't got enough room to come down. They are hiiden somewhere in his upper mandible! We have to use a tiny spanner to gradually widen his jaw. Eventually, rather than have a little mouth like mine, he will look more like Julia Roberts, or the male equivalent. My orthodontic treatment was to go to Queen Victoria Hospital on my own, have 2 teeth pulled out without aneasthetic, walk 45 mins to the train station and get myself home! Oh, and with a follow up appointment in 6 months time. That's why I don't look like Julia Roberts.
