Sally Mair - Loving life

Friday today so the art quiz link is at the bottom of the blip.
9 out of 10 for me today, you can't expect an Edinburgh girl to know about Glasgow, lol!

Yesterday I set up my nativity scene, so here it is, sheep and shepherds are still out in the field and Mary and Joseph are still in Nazareth with their donkey. Oh boy is their world about to change - like it does for all new parents!
After our decision to keep ourselves to ourselves for the next week or so, I started the day as instructed by the FM with a lateral flow test, negative thank goodness, then headed into town. We planned to do a commando raid on the St James Quarter - by car and on foot rather than using grappling hooks - I might point out.
We bought most of the things we went for which was good.
Meanwhile Josie had been having her 3 month checks with the health visitor. She's growing nicely along the 25th centile, her weight is good, she's meeting her age related milestones - and she's gorgeous, so all is well there. Her birth weight was 5lb 12oz and she is now, 12 weeks later, 11 lbs 8ozs, exactly double already.
We had our monthly Cursillo meeting via Zoom this afternoon, we had just been about to propose reverting to meeting in person, but that is on hold again unfortunately. Our speaker today spoke about her involvement as a volunteer with Amnesty International and Action by Christians against Torture. Both of these have letter writing campaigns. People write both to political prisoners and also to the authorities. I was very moved by a quote from one woman in Saudi Arabia who said how grateful she was for all the letters as the campaign had literally kept her alive. Because the letters arrived and people expected replies then the authorities could not dispose of her without others noticing.
I cannot imagine how awful it must be to live under such a regime.
This evening we were playing bridge, different friends to our usual group, but a good evening.
Tomorrow it will be time to decorate the Christmas tree and sort out the gifts.
Keep safe everyone. I do want to be able to enjoy Christmas.
