Red Kites Around Preston

I mean the pretty little village in North Herts, with quiet lanes, an old pub and a village green. I’m leading a social walk from there in mid Jan so today Peter & I went and did a recce.

The sky was grey and flat from the start and as the walk progressed the cloud base dropped and visibility became poor and the air became damp and chilly. It wasn’t the best of days tbh, but there’s always something of interest in nature. Today we saw 18 red kites! They were in two family groups with the young ones circling around and calling and seemingly having fun. Not long afterwards a deer hopped across the path. Amazing.

Philosophy Friday
Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.
