At Odds

An open patch of water, crystal clear, giving way to a view of old reeds lying there below. Their horizontal lines, emphasised by my choice of letterbox format, are at odds with the shadowy reflections running counter to them. It is one of those illusions where the eye cannot settle on one nor the other.

Extra: Sprouting. Wind pushed water under the ice causing air bubbles to expand and contract. The big bubble would retreat and disappear, wait a while, then reform to surround the patch of green vegetation in ever changing formations. Timing was crucial.
