Made this Smarties topped cake as a slightly belated birthday cake for our young Hong Kong guest who arrived back to ours this afternoon.

He’s at boarding school - they don’t really mark the boy’s birthdays which I think is a shame. So we sang happy birthday and presented him with cake and a gift albeit 10 days late.

We really feel for him as he can’t go back to HK without spending three weeks in hotel quarantine. He only gets four weeks holiday. Lousy way to spend Christmas.
So he’s with us, poor boy. Hope we make it a happy holiday for him, with us, his UK ’school holiday family’
