Plenty of opportunity to photograph this male greater spotted woodpecker as he seemed to have been aware of danger and was perfectly still apart from carefully scanning the surroundings.

Tip No. 1 on the run up to Christmas.  
Go to the bottle bank now, whilst it's quiet, and not overflowing.
