Forty Years

In 1981 I lived on Portland in Dorset and vividly remember the loss of the Solomon Browne and her eight man crew.
Although the Solomon Browne was a Watson Class Lifeboat I saw this today in Falmouth, berthed near the Maritime Museum. The “James and Catherine Macfarlane” is a 37 foot Oakley Class Lifeboat, no longer in service she has been preserved as an exhibit.

With Mrs S shift patterns this was her first day at home with a “full nest” and as the sign above the dining room door says;
“When Mum is happy, everybody’s happy”.
