We followed him behind the Stoop

along a stretch of the Duke of Northumberland's river (a distributary of the Crane, created to supply water to power his water mills in the 15th century).  Yesterday I went without my camera so of course this kingfisher showed of his fishing prowess by diving three times, twice successfully, for us.  He takes no notice of people passing but yesterday was disturbed by a grey squirrel who climbed down to drink below.
