Which way next?

A walk from our cottage today. After a surprise visit from my friend who lives nearby - we’ll see her properly after Christmas. Coming back through Jedburgh we were intrigued by these carvings on the Queen Victoria monument. We decided maybe they are otters… these two seemed to be having a chat or discussing the route up the pillar above them.
