Auldhame Castle

Bright sunny day with a cold wind - I had been holding back a picture of Auldhame Castle however busy at work and I thought I would snatch this shot at lunchtime. Auldhame Castle is a largely forgotten ruin on the road down to Seacliff Beach - I suspect most day trippers aren't aware of its existence as it disappearing into the trees in the Summer. The castle was supposed to have been built by the Otterburn family around 1550 and was abandoned in the 1700's.

A fuller history and reconstruction is available here.
