The Obama Presidential Portrait

Painted by Kehinde Wiley.
I feel so lucky that I got to see it today up and close at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Nothing like seeing the real thing. On view until January 2, 2022.
This is a marvelous unconventional portrait.
“Each flower tells a piece of the story of Barack Obama’s life journey: The purple lily shows his connection to his father’s Kenyan heritage. The white jasmine symbolizes growing up in Indonesia and Hawaii. And the yellow, pink and orange chrysanthemums represent Chicago, where he became a state senator.”
And he looks like himself, comfortable in the natural environment, and also on the big stage of the world.
