An interesting tree

This line of trees and shrubs lines the field at the end of our garden, on the other side of a tiny lane – that leads, rather conveniently, to the pub and village hall.  I love the intricacy of the oak's branches, but the whole line makes for a great view, particularly when the weather is so wild and wet and I'm not about to venture outside.

The field is normally inhabited by a flock of Highland cattle, one of which escape a couple of weeks ago by trampling the area of brush on the left, managing to drop down to the lane on that side without hurting itself.  Its freedom was short-lived, with the local FB page alerting the owners pretty swiftly.
