Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Heart and tulips

Me and my heart ( and Herb) spent the day at UW Hospital.   Roads OK to there.. slushy..no hills….Had to go 3 1/2 hours early to get the covid test…. It is a PCR that they manage to do pretty fast.   Negative.   ( as is Nik but son Eric is now positive).  The xrayed tulips covered a whole wall.  By the X-ray department of course.   So had to use it.
Had a TEE …( trans esophageal echo) to get more information about my crappy heart.  The most problematic part is the tricuspid valve which has “torrential” regurgitation.  Learning  that there are astonishing new ( like THIS year 2021!!) treatments from clipping 2 of the 3 parts of the valve making the never closing opening smaller,  to implanting a new one inside the old one…all done with a catheter through a vein.   It’s like science fiction!   ( the tricuspid is the 3 part one between the right atrium and right ventricle, sending non oxygenated blood to the lungs)
Of course there are studies that the UW participates in…so we’re just seeing if there is anything even possible.  If it’s fixable , they want to fix it.     It all went well…. It still beats!   Not to worry.    Now we can really stay home for the next round of snow.
