Arthur's hydrangeas

Arthur came round today for a cup of tea for his 88th birthday and bought us some of his beautiful hydrangeas. Arthur was our next door neighbour and almost the first person we met when we moved to the Highlands. We have had a cup of tea with Arthur for every birthday since his 70th and we have a lot of shared history.

Arthur encouraging us and teaching us so much when we were learning about caravanning. Arthur making gadgets for our van, like the hook up arrangement for the open-air shower (brrr). MountGrace organising Arthur’s collection of family photographs and slides. Arthur sending hydrangeas for MountGrace’s Mum. Running into Arthur, quite unexpectedly, at a remote service station in Fitzroy Crossing. Arthur making hat pegs for us out of giant iron nails from the old Ghan railway. Souveniring a length of wire from the Rabbit Proof Fence and bringing it home for Arthur. Arthur’s collection of baseball caps brought back from our travels.

Happy 88th Arthur.
