Oliebol

According to Wikipedia it is not clear what the origin of the oliebol is, but the earliest discovered recipe of oliekoecken ("oil cookies", the direct precursor of the oliebol) came from the 1667 Dutch book De verstandige kock "The sensible cook".
Oliebollen are traditionally eaten on New Year's eve and at funfairs. In wintertime, they are also sold in the street at mobile stalls.

Bert always wants some.

We did nothing today. Made plans for a Grand Fondo tomorrow, though. It's such wonderful spring weather that we should take advantage of it. The temperature rose to 16 degrees this afternoon.

Have a nice New Year's Eve, my friends.
