A Class Above ... ?

Within the past few days we have been informed by the BBC that, according to research undertaken to analyse the modern British class system, a new model is emerging.

That model moves away from the traditional (if you buy into it) 3-tier system of upper, middle and working classes to a new model made up of 7 groups.

These groups include elite, established middle class, technical middle class, new affluent workers, traditional working class, emergent service workers and the precariat.

Now, I know we don't think we live our lives around the particular class into which we may fall, but this survey tells us that, indeed, we do.

A very interesting topic for conversation, I believe, and worth looking at the BBC news site here where, if at all interested (and/or curious!), you can calculate (if totally honest!) into which class you may currently fall!
