An Adventure

The weather was a bit dismal this morning but has warmed up from earlier bone chilling temperatures, so we took Spike on 'his' walk. It is such a pleasure to watch him running around in circles getting three times more exercise than us. His confidence in his nose is amazing as he tears around, and he listens to us if we see him going off piste.

This group was coming across the meadow and caught our attention because everyone seemed to be having such a good time. The bigger kids were checking out the pond for newts and frogs.  John and I were both smiling as we watched them stomp through the water filled trails and talk enthusiastically about whatever it was they could see in the pond.

It's lovely to see kids this age having a good time and not gurning about having to walk or being cold, and adults who are paying attention to them.

Making our way back down the other side of the hill to the car, the bank of ferns was looking particularly nice and my eye was caught by the spider web sparkling with water drops.

Trail House closed before Christmas with a sign on the door that was vague about when they would reopen. We suspect that they have been hit by Covid as they were still closed when we drove by after our walk.. The cannabis dispensary behind it was open for business but didn't seem to be getting much overflow. Pot is no substitute for coffee in my book....
