The Cowgate and South Bridge, Edinburgh

I was all layered up for this morning's run - hat, gloves and buff on top of numerous layers.  My main concern was to avoid the puddles of water that had frozen up over night and the cobbles which can be treacherous on an icy morning.

Going through The Cowgate in Edinburgh's Old Town has all the presence of Edinburgh's history.  The arch that crosses The Cowgate was the largest of nineteen that made up The South Bridge into Edinburgh's New Town when it was completed in 1788.

Lunch and a movie  at the Filmhouse in the afternoon for Deirdre's birthday.  Licorice Pizza, the new Paul Thomas Anderson movie is set in California's San Fernando Valley in 1973.  I thought the first half of the movie was terrific - very funny, great sound track.  But the second half I found a bit strange.   But great acting throughout from the two leads Cooper Hoffman and Alana Haim.
