Poisonous

This plant with strikingly coloured red fruit is growing in bushland nearby. Alocasia brisbanensis (Cunjevoi Lily or just Cunjevoi) is a common rainforest plant in eastern Australia. It is said to be highly poisonous (Wikipedia).

Despite this, an old bushman once told me that the sap of Cunjevoi is a useful treatment for the very painful sting of the Giant Stinging Tree. This online article refers to such stories and warns strongly against trying the treatment. Old bushmen sometimes have a strange sense of humour.
