Lambeg Drum

It takes stamina and strength to play a Lambeg drum. Curved malacca canes are used to strike the drum, making it one of the loudest acoustic instruments in the world.
I was sitting at home wondering where to get today's blip when I heard the drums being played about a quarter of a mile away.
It turned out the players were preparing for a drumming competition to be held next week. I found it fascinating to watch them "tuning" the drum by striking leather clamps on the cross-cords with a leather mallet.
No doubt I'll take a look next Saturday to see what makes a champion Lambeg drummer!
