Tree Damage

Another example of tree damage by Storm Arwen. I think most of my previous blips have shown how the tree roots have been pulled up and to some extent you can understand this. Although most pine trees have extensive, wide yet shallow tree roots, in this coastal region they are in loose sandy soil and therefore vulnerable to storm force winds. However, the strength of Storm Arwen was such that it even tore open the trunks of trees as is shown in this image. I maybe should have done a selfie so you could see just how large-scale this damage was. That spoke of wood left standing was about my height !

At home we are still suffering from the damage done to our fence as the  people we have hired to repair the fence were unable to come this week as they are isolating because of covid.
