I wish that I could afford to purchase one of the marvellous pictures that we saw at the exhibition of Darren Woodhead’s paintings at Aberlady.   All of his paintings, mainly of birds and plants in the East Lothian landscapes, are done in watercolour outside in all sorts of weather and I have been fortunate to come across him actually painting when he let me look through his fantastic telescope at a distant short eared owl that I had been unable to see in shrubs. On the way back we stopped to watch a kite surfer finishing his activity for the day near Longniddry with a surf boarder in the distance.
