Audio Ways

A walk around Lewes early this morning with the spaniel. I've come across a few of these Audio Ways signs. This QR audio trail started in August last year and currently includes 18 locations in the town before heading off down the railway line to Seaford. I haven't tried it yet but the publicity promises eclectic tales and site-specific history from adopted pigs to Lewes ghosts. This one is outside the old Naval Prison.  Apparently Lewes was chosen by the Admiralty as the location for a naval prison partly because it was midway between the dockyards of Chatham and Portsmouth. Although the prison was demolished in 1963 there is still a connection with law enforcement - the site is used as a car park for police vehicles.
