Dobbs Weir

Spent an hour or two today trying to snap a kingfisher and failed so popped a bit further downstream on the Lee Navigation to Dobbs Weir. I'm not sure of the reason but the spelling is all to cock. The Lee Navigation incorporates part of the river Lea.

I think this is just a bit of business to regulate levels and flows but it doesn't look as though anybody has tried to turn one any of the sluice wheels for a decade or five. I'll blip a picture of the machinery some time soon.

The building in the background is a pub called The Fish and Eels, lovely place for a lazy lunch.
