What a day!

We had planned to visit my parents in law today which on a good day is a journey of 2 hours each way into Bournemouth from East Devon. It was a lovely sunny but chilly start to the day and I missed photographing an excellent sunrise. We left home at 8.05 in order to miss all the school buses which drop seniors off at the grammar school at Colyton. We knew we couldn’t drive through Lyme Regis as that route was closed so went the alternative route via Axminster. There were some temporary traffic lights in place as some tree trimming was in progress. Unfortunately, only two or three cars were being let through in our direct as opposed to 10-12 in the other direction and there was a long cross over time so that held us up for a considerable time. That was nothing though compared to our return journey which has taken us four hours. Two serious accidents on the way home, both involving road closures, one involving 3 vehicles on the A35 where 2 people have been cut out from their vehicles and the second on the A3052 where there were 2 cars involved, three people and a lady who had to be cut free from the wreckage. On both occasions we had to turn around and on the second occasion the policeman told us to divert via Branscombe. The roads around there are very narrow and there is no way we were going to attempt travelling in the dark along there with lots of traffic in both directions. We just hope everyone is OK. I wonder if the sun distracted people, it was very low or alternatively people just driving too fast, we observed a lot of that today.
The sunset was glorious this evening but no time to stop so my blip is of some catkins, I think, photographed as we walked through Bournemouth gardens this morning, at least we managed 4 mi,es walking and I set up a new email address for my mother in law. That’s a long story but my father in law was sent on a long goose chase unnecessarily while he tried to load her email which I knew was defunct although he ignored the messages he received onto their new phone.
