The South Australian State Flag

I was visiting our local state politician this morning and saw this flag pinned to his notice board. The flag is based on the British Blue Ensign with the state badge on the side. The badge is a gold disc featuring a bird called the piping shrike with its wings outstretched. This bird design is based on the Australian magpie.

I must admit that you rarely see our state flag displayed, and in general Australians are not big on flying or displaying any sort of flag at their properties. That is compared to USA where it is common to see a flag flying as you walk around certain neighborhoods.
