A Mid-January Treat

It can sometimes feel a bit flat after Christmas, so M and I decided to treat ourselves to lunch at the Blakeney Hotel.  We had our favourite quiet table tucked away around a corner.  The window looks out over Blakeney Quay to the marshes and sea beyond, which can just about be seen reflected in M's wine glass.  It was another stunning day with clear blue sky and bright sunshine.

The meal was all delicious but they particularly excelled themselves with the desserts.  The one featured in extras is a honey parfait, surrounded by very light lavender sponge, with lemon gel and fresh blackberries.  I had a tiny spoonful to taste and it was gorgeous.  My dessert was somewhat more of a comforting nature, warm banana sponge with cinnamon ice cream and a warm salted caramel sauce...heaven!

Good job I spent over 20 minutes on the exercise bike this morning!
