The Allendale Challenge

The annual walk/run across the fells of The North Pennines in Northumberland. It starts and finishes in Allendale and covers a distance of over 25 miles (40 km) with a total ascent of 742 metres. It raises funds for the North Of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team.

Several hundreds of walkers set off at 8.00am (too early for me) they were followed 2 hours later by the mad people hardy souls who are intending to run the course, over peat bogs and up and down hills. They have my admiration but there is nothing on this earth could entice me to join them.

Hopefully there will be no mishaps and everyone makes it back safe and sound. They have a beautiful day for it bright sunshine and clear blue skies.

This time next week daughter number one's wedding will be in full swing - 7 days.
