Partygate

We begin to shuffle off the coils of the pandemic lockdown and return to normal life, except it’s not normal. To start with there is what has been described as broken relationships, all those people with whom we have lost contact over the last two years. Are they gone forever? How do we re-establish contact or have we all moved on? And there is the new etiquette. Ringing people up without texting them first to make an appointment is now regarded as rude, according to Gen. Z.

It’s another day for an indoor shot, this one of our kitchen orchid. Every time I photograph it I am reminded of Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings.

Meanwhile the antics of Boris and his parties (14 at the last count) are providing social media with endless fun. See extra.  But the most poignant image and one that will remain in the public imagination is of the Queen attending the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral sitting alone for social distancing, while the evening before No.10 Downing St were partying the night away even sending a guy out with a suitcase to buy more alcohol.

The public will not forgive or forget that however much the Prime Minister apologises.
