Precariously balanced and hungry

I have 8 of these pesky pigeons who trample everywhere flat so I've had to strew the ground with apple prunings to allow the bulbs to survive.  Looks awful but it is effective.  The pigeons fiercely chase one another away if they get close to the discards of goldfinches so nobody gets a safe tuck in. I'm delighted to report the goldfinches are back in considerable numbers.
