Waltham Abbey Wassailing

Ollie dog and I have been wassailing together once before at the local Rivers orchard. We both love singing so went to the event at Waltham Abbey this afternoon. The orchard is in the shadow of the 12th century abbey. Wassailing is a tradition where singing and making noise is said to drive evil spirits out of the orchard thus promoting a good harvest.

Ollie and I enjoyed meeting people and their dogs. We watched the welly tossing and Morris dancers performing. Unfortunately there was no singing while we were there. Maybe this took place later.

Some women had made lovely headdresses.
