Coastguard

It was on 15 January 1822, that HM Coastguard was formally brought into existence and has been working to keep people safe at the coast and sea ever since.
The Coastguard was formed in 1822 by the amalgamation of three services set up to prevent smuggling:
the Revenue Cruisers
the Riding Officers
the Preventive Water Guard
Today's HM Coast Guard carries out excellent work in setting standards to protect over 11,000 miles of coastline and being ready to respond to pollution incidents;
encouraging safe behaviours from over 200 million coastal tourist visits
promoting and enforcing better safety amongst the 12,000 workers on 5,700 fishing vessels
Wow!

So 200 years old. Congratulations!
