The Martyrs' Monument

I've blipped this structure before but never from the back as far as I recall. It's probably the most prominent feature of the Old Town Cemetery. It has nothing to do with Stirling (the martyrs were from Wigtonshire) but everything to do with Presbyterianism and martyrdom thereof. The martyrs met their end in 1685 but the memorial is Victorian.

A beautiful winter day. Could be spring with clear blue sky and sunshine. Perfect for a walk up to the castle environs and back home for coffee. And flapjack (see yesterday).

I do have some work to do at the desk but I'm much more interested in going back outside and working in the garden. Wonder which will win.
