On the river

The PS Industry (ie, paddle steamer) is moored on the Murray River at Renmark in South Australia. She was built at Goolwa SA in 1910, with wood-fired steam engine built in Bendigo, Victoria. She was commissioned by the SA Government as a service vessel to help maintain navigability of the river. She was decommissioned in 1968 and became a historic museum in Renmark. Since then, she has been painstakingly restored, with much use of volunteer labour, and now runs river trips under steam about 20 times a year. Unfortunately, she was not operating today, but we’d love to come back some time when she is. PS Industry has a website with lots of information
