Goulburn Wetlands

The Goulburn Wetlands are located in what was a disused brick pit, established to produce bricks to build Goulburn town, and disused since the end of World War 2.

In the last few years various community groups and in particular the charmingly named FROGS (Friends and Residents of Goulburn Swamplands) have transformed the deserted pit into a Wetlands. There are three hides for bird watchers, and the FROGS Facebook page records the growing number of resident and visiting birds. All the plantings in the Wetlands are from locally grown seeds.

We had no idea the Wetlands were there until we came across an article about them and decided to go and see for ourselves. They’re such a credit to the community volunteers who have created and maintain them. Well done the FROGS.
